BLUES FESTIVAL

The party already began in the shuttle bus to the festival area and I met some guys from New Jersey while we drove for about 20 minutes through the beautiful landscape. As we arrived, you had to pass 3 checkpoints. The first one to check your ticket, the second to check your bag and the last one was a gate with some policemen with dogs to check if you wanna smuggle in some illegal substances, you know… (Doubtless, I could pass all three gates smoothly, but the Jersey guys got stucked at the last gate.. but finally they got in as well).

Then I entirely arrived at the festival zone. They had all the same shops like at the market last Sunday. I found a merchandise shop, which sold CD’s from the playing artist as well as CD’s from other artists and I bought 5 CD’s for 5 bugs ($) and I’m really exciting if they are good. Anyhow, the covers are very cheeky (I like this word haha). But one beer was more expensive than my 5 CDs! The cheapest beer was 7 bugs.

The stages were covered with huge tents, so the whole crowd was also covered under the tent! And a lot of elder people were sitting in their camping chairs and listening to Ziggi Marleys smooth beats. I was really surprised of the whole organisation of the festival.

And my personal highlight was when My Morning Jacket began to play my song. And as the bass began to boom I was freaking out!. I’ve never ever heard such a f*** bassline. The first seconds, I couldn’t breathe anymore.

But Tomebone Shorty was awesom as well..Tombone Shorty - Suburbia !

Byron Market

Once a month there is a big market in Byron Bay with a lot of freaky people from every where.

Schaufenster mit Spieglung

I GOT A TICKET! .:BLUES FESTIVAL BYRON BAY:.

SOME IMPRESSIONS

FIRST NEWS

As I arrived, I entered through the garden with a small veranda and went into the house, which is not very big but really open and bright. The living room is together with the kitchen the biggest room with many windows, which are almost every time opened, a comfortable couch, and a lot of interesting DVD’s like Pulp Fiction and Monty Python. The glass door in the living room leads directly to the backside veranda and the garden.
My room leads to the frontside veranda as same as the normal door. So I can go directly from my room to the outside. I have a much bigger bed than I expected and a TV, which isn’t working very well, but who cares.
Sue and Les (my hostparents) are very friendly like the mentality here. But I didn’t saw them for a long time because, just a few days after my arriving, they went away for a week. But a friend of them is styed here to look after me and the house. Maybe they wanted to control, that I don’t make a big home party in their house ;-) what a pity. But now they are back and the washing machine is still out of order! föck.
But the big disadvantage is, to have NO internet at home. I’ve got just free wifi on school.  At first, it’s no problem, but on rainy days it’s quiet boring. And sometimes it rains a lot. But the temperature is nice, not too hot and not too cold.
And I’ve just 10 min to school or to town and with the bicycle about 4 min.
One night I dreamed I would have a very tight race bike and not such a rusty old boneshaker like I have here. But it's better than nothing, everybody rents a bike here.

The school seems to be very small, but it’s just because now the main season is over. Three weeks ago there must have been much more people in 6 different classes. Now we’re just 3 classes anymore. But the people are funny, all above the brazilian guys. We have also a lot of Spanish, Swiss, Korena and Japaneses. However, the two brazilians, who are living in a tent on the camping place and playing guitar all day long, are still the craziest. They don’t even know how long they will stay in Byron. Maybe till June, maybe one year.. just until they run out of money haha..  nice guys.

The teachers are very funny and at my first day, the afternoon program was ‘Pizza and Beer for free!’. What a start..
But the life here is very expensive. Almost the same as in Switzerland, sometimes even more. But every day there is an happy hour in another bar, or pizza for 5$ in the club, or you can win a surfboard when you get the right number with your beer... (That's the only reason we drink beer, for sure ;-) Anyway, in every shop in town are surf -and skateboards on the walls. And freaky birds are walking on the street and making crazy sounds.

So, I have to say goodbye for now.

PS: every where you can buy great sushi! Aber wie mer en rechtige Kebap macht hends glaub nonig usegfonde..
